Bruce also ran a residential landscape design business in the evenings and weekends for all those years in Utah County, thus, improving the beautification of the area “one residence at a time.
Bruce has served as an officer in various capacities within the Utah chapter of ASLA, editor of the chapter newsletter, on the Provo City Parks and Urban Forestry Board, and served on the Utah State University LAEP Advisory Board. He also volunteered for six years on the Hidden Garden Tour committee and assisted in the selection and hosting of gardens. In September 2005, BYU won top honors in the University Campus category from America in Bloom, a nonprofit organization dedicated to "Planting Pride in Our Communities."
