Students learn and practice basic strokes, braces, rolls (one side), equipment. Safety, Leave No Trace, Resource mgt., introduction to techniques used on rivers. No camping.
This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.
Online book and material fees may be added up until the first week of class. Students may opt out during the first two weeks of class. In our pool, learn about kayaking equipment, paddle and roll techniques, bracing, wet exits, rescues, and river safety in preparation for river running. Students should have the ability to confidently swim 25 yards and maintain a moderate level of activity for 2 hours. Class meets on January 9, 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13, and 20. Thursdays 6-8 pm, Pool B.
