TONI LOCK

I have been studying T'ai Chi and Qigong since 1997 with Master Sifu Jerry Gardner, the co-owner of Red Lotus School of Movement in Salt Lake City, Utah. In January 2009, I became a Sifu, as well, and am now recognized as Sifu Toni. Sifu is pronounced "see-fu" and means teacher. With this title, I vowed to share, teach and practice T'ai Chi and Qigong for the rest of my life. (Yes, I love it that much!)

I am a staff member at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, where I teach both modalities to patients, caregivers and staff. Students learn the joy of letting go and being in the present moment (where there is no stress), which can be healing in and of itself. I believe that the Eastern Arts support traditional allopathy modalities. For me, this has certainly been true. In January 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I feel my personal practice and continuing to teach throughout this C-Adventure has helped me to stay grounded and has expanded my awareness while staying connected to mySelf, my intuition, and my body.

I find that both T'ai Chi and Qigong are meant for each of us to have our own direct experience of slowing down, breathing and being present. You can read all about the benefits of these meditative art forms online, but there is no comparison to actually coming to class and feeling the benefit for yourself.

If you would like to learn more about these practices, I share personal insights on slowing down, being present, and flowing with life on my website, www.ChiMoments.com.

When I am not teaching, I love being a yoga and pilates student. I also love being outside - whether it's hiking, snowshoeing or simply walking around my neighborhood.

My personal mantra: BE = BREATHE & EXPAND.
