Instructor: ANDRE HOGGAN

ANDRE HOGGAN

Andre Hoggan was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He received a BFA in Fine Art from Idaho State University in Pocatello Idaho. Andre spent his college years weaving on floor looms, creating handmade paper and pouring metal in a foundry. Eventually his work evolved into a unique combination of metal, natural fiber weavings, and paper. The central theme of his work explores an abstract human form striving to radiate energy and emotion. His use of shape, line and texture breathes life into the sculptural forms he creates.

There is so much potential in handmade paper as a medium and Andre Hoggan has discovered a unique artistic expression through the natural fibers used. With a fondness for sharing his passion-whether through teaching, exhibiting or simply discussing his creative process, Andre enjoys being part of the local art community. His handmade paper allows others to incorporate his unique craftsmanship into their own distinct and personal projects.

What Students are Saying:
"This was one of the best Lifelong Learning experiences I have had: 10 out of 10. The instructor (and his "helper") were engaging, patient, and clear, and his love for the topic shown through. The class was just the right size and length. I would take the class again and recommend it to others with any curiosity about this art form."
-Thomas H.

"I loved this class Andre’ was so knowledgeable and down to earth. He made the class fun and showed us ways to continue making paper at home with out breaking the bank. I would definitely take more classes from him."
