Scuba: Basic Open Water

Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 200 yards without stopping. The knowledge and ability gained from this course provide a vehicle to safely visit the underwater world. You are going to see and do things that go far beyond your dreams and expectations. Divers are penetrating what could be man's last frontier on Earth--the other three-quarters of our planet where fantastic beauty awaits and an infinite variety of life abounds. This thrilling realm is open to every certified diver in the world. Becoming a certified diver permits you to explore, collect, and photograph objects in the underwater world. Students must come prepared to swim the first night of class. Certification is required to dive and to use scuba equipment all over the world.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course. Students can purchase any assigned hardcopy textbooks through our Campus Bookstore.
