This is an application-based course centered around the use of mathematics, statistics, and probability to model changes in the real world. Students will learn about different uses of percentages, financial mathematics, linear and exponential modeling with applications, how to determine the probability of an event, how to recognize normal (bell-shaped) distributions and how to use their properties in real-life applications. This course also contains a review of the specific mathematical material from the level of MATH 980 that is most helpful for success in this course.
This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course. Students can purchase any assigned hardcopy textbooks through our Campus Bookstore.
