Fall 2019 Section 1, Starting on: 08/27/2019

Attendance at 1st class meeting is mandatory. No drops after 2nd day following this meeting. Class meets Aug 27 only. Climbing Fri, Sat, Sun, Sept. 6 - 8. Surrounding Salt Lake City area. Introduction to vertical rock climbing. Top rope climbing fundamentals including proper equipment selection & usage, top rope climbing/rappelling, basic climbing technique, and anchor building. Learn the basics of outdoor rock climbing while spending the weekend in Southern Utah. Locations periodically change and will be announced at the beginning of each semester. Class meets on campus October 22. Climbing field trip November 1-3. This course focuses on the fundamentals of top-rope climbing which include: proper anchor building, belaying, climbing movement, rappelling, and other safe climbing practices.
