Labor economics examines the operations of the labor market and the world of work. After exploring what determines the demand for and supply of labor, we turn to a range of labor market issues including education and training, the determination of wages, the effects of unemployment, the causes and consequences of discrimination, immigration, unions, and other issues. This is a quantitative intensive course that examines and analyzes labor market statistics as well as develops quantitative concepts for measuring labor market processes and outcomes. This course uses these data and concepts to assess labor market regulations such as the minimum wage. QI
