Cross-Cultural Communication

Explores the theory and practice of communication across languages and cultures to increase understanding of cultural differences that influence communication and enhance appreciation of the diverse ways of communicating in different cultures. Topics may include: language and identity, verbal communication, non verbal communication, perception, cultural values, history and its cultural impact, and worldview. DV, HF

Note: This class meets 3 days before spring semester starts, January 2-4. Class meets in person each day from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with a lunch break daily. Students are required to attend these 3 days in person. In addition to the 3 in person days this class will meet Jan 13, Jan 20, Feb 10, Feb 24, Mar 17, Mar 24, Apr 14, Apr 21 via Zoom in Canvas. In addition to time spent in the classroom, students will also be required to complete additional online lectures, assignments, and exams.
