Gene Fitzgerald has been a professor of Russian Language and Literature at the University of Utah since 1969. He has also taught courses in the Honors, Liberal Education, and Comparative Literature programs. He has principally concentrated on the fiction of Dostoevsky, Gogol, Tolstoy, Chekhov, and the poetry of Aleksander Pushkin. His teaching awards over the years include the U's Distinguished Teaching award, the Hatch prize for Excellence in Teaching, and the Presidential Teaching Scholar award.
Throughout his teaching career, Gene has made countless voyages to Russia, guiding students to a greater understanding of its history and culture. Gene also teaches numerous classes for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Continuing Education at the University of Utah, and has quite a broad fan base for his knowledge, warmth, and flair.
Igor Nazareitchouk was born and raised in St. Petersburg where he currently resides. He is one of the pioneers in bringing Russian fine art to collectors outside of Russia. For the past 25 years, Igor has been traveling all over Russia discovering great art and working with some of the greatest Russian artists (and their families) of the twentieth century. Igor has hosted numerous clients on visits to Russia and had guided several tours. He brings outstanding hospitality to the tour and has a reputation as being each guest's personal concierge.
