Yoga Teacher Training 1

The contact hours in this course will be spent learning the following basic principles; asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours will be a mix between analytical training pertaining to teaching methodologies and practice of these techniques and guided practice of the techniques themselves. Both areas will receive substantial emphasis. The principles learned in this course will prepare the student to enhance their experience before moving into ESSF 1061.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.

Class Sections For Yoga Teacher Training 1 (ESSF 800)

Spring 2018 Section 1, Starting on: 01/08/2018

(formerly 1059/1061 and 59/61) Guided focus on history of yoga, philosophies, and the metaphysical energies associated with yoga practice. These principles will include, but are not limited to: lineage of yoga, the Eight Limbs, chakras, koshas, doshas, bandhas, pranayamas, etc.; the study of anatomy, adjustments, asanas; readings of Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Upanishads; guided meditations, kriyas, bhaktis, and much more. The University of Utah YTT is a Yoga Alliance 200 hour RYT approved program. Please email with any questions.
