This course is a guided focus on the history of yoga, philosophies, and the metaphysical energies associated with yoga practice. These principles will include, but are not limited to: the lineage of yoga, the Eight Limbs, chakras, koshas, doshas, bandhas, pranayamas, etc., the study of anatomy, adjustments, asanas, readings of Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Upanishads, guided meditations, kriyas, bhaktis, and much more. The University of Utah YTT is a Yoga Alliance 200 hour RYT approved program. Enrollment in YTT 1, 2, and 3 can be concurrent a semester, or spread out over semesters. Required to receive Yoga Teacher Certification.
This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.
Online book and material fees may be added up until the first week of class. Students may opt out during the first two weeks of class. A more in-depth study of the variety of yoga styles and disciplines one can learn to enhance their personal yoga practice. It is available for all who are interested in learning more about yoga; there are no pre-reqs but completion of ESSF 57 Beginning Yoga would be beneficial. This course meets on Canvas for the 1st half of the semester.
