This trip will be an intermediate backpacking trip for persons in good physical condition who have had some backpacking experience. One of Utah's highest mountains will be ascended.
This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course. Students can purchase any assigned hardcopy textbooks through our Campus Bookstore.

Discover the beauty of the Wind River Mountains with our alpine backpacking program starting at the Boulder Lake Trailhead. This adventure offers participants the chance to develop wilderness skills, practice backcountry navigation, and experience high altitude backpacking. Guided by experienced instructors, you'll be backpacking a +-20 mile loop over three days with your fellow students. You will learn how “Less is More†when packing for a backpacking trip. Gear selection and utilization will be covered along with Ultralight backpacking topics. Whether you're a seasoned backpacker or a newcomer to the outdoors, this program provides the perfect blend of challenge, exploration, and connection to nature. Class meets September 14 only. Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Field experience will be September 25-27. Overnight camping. *Drops are not possible after the second day following the first class meeting. *To determine the last day to drop this miscellaneous course, see http://registrar.utah.edu/handbook/miscellaneous.php. There may be additional expenses that students will need to cover to participate in this course. These items may include food, gear rentals, and transportation costs.
