Hiking: Arches National Park

Natural history of Arches National Park. Includes hiking and examination of contemporary resource management issues as well as issues related to environmental ethics and visitor behavior. Overnight camping.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.

Online book and material fees may be added up until the first week of class. Students may opt out during the first two weeks of class. Class Sections For Hiking: Arches National Park (PRTL 256)

Fall 2023 Section 1, Starting on: 10/16/2023

This course will focus on the natural history of Arches National Park. In addition to day hiking, this course will focus on contemporary resource management challenges and their relationship to user behaviors. Curriculum will also regard safety, Leave No Trace ethics, consumerism, and environmental ethics. Class meets on-campus on Oct. 24th only. Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Field experience will be from Oct. 27- Oct. 29.
