Basics of winter backpacking and camping, Leave No Trace, cooking, and consumerism, along with recreation-management challenges associated with that activity. Designed for both the novice and experienced winter backpacker. Overnight camping.

Spring 2021 Section 1, Starting on: 02/08/2021

Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Drops not possible after the 2nd day following this meeting. Overnight camping. Class meets Feb 8th only. Field trip Feb 19 - Feb 21. Two night winter camping in the Uinta Mountains. Beginner level snowshoeing/skiing. Learn basic snow shelter construction, leave no trace, land management issues, and equipment/food systems appropriate for a comfortable winter backpacking experience.
