Rock Climbing I: Indoor
Academic Noncredit

This is a basic rock climbing class which focuses not only on belaying, knot tying, and safety concerns, but also on bouldering, climbing techniques, and route reading. Low ropes elements will also be incorporated into the class. Additionally, core curriculum includes environmental and resource management aspects of this popular sport.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.

Online book and material fees may be added up until the first week of class. Students may opt out during the first two weeks of class. For more information, visit the Campus Store Inclusive Access Program's webpage. If you opt out, you will be responsible for obtaining the course materials yourself for the course.

Class Sections For Rock Climbing I: Indoor (PRTL 237)

Fall 2024 Section 1, Starting on: 08/19/2024

TThis course will introduce students to top-rope climbing fundamentals, climbing movement, and anchors in an indoor setting. Fee includes use of Momentum equipment during designated class hours. The following classes will meet at Momentum Millcreek (3173 E 3300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84109) on Aug. 19, 26 Sep. 9, 16, 23, 30 Oct.14, 21, 28 Nov. 4, 11, 18, 25. *Drops are not possible after the second day following the first class meeting.* To determine the last day to drop this miscellaneous course, see http://registrar.utah.edu/handbook/miscellaneous.php. There may be additional expenses that students will need to cover to participate in this course. These items may include food, gear rentals, and transportation costs. More details will be made available during the pre-course meeting.
