1st of a 3-course series. Also prepares for American Canyoneering Association (ACA) Recreational Canyon Leader and Professional Canyon Guide Certifications. Features ACA Technical Canyoneering course curriculum.

Summer 2018 Section 2, Starting on: 05/15/2018

Attendance at both meetings (prior to the field program) is mandatory. Drops not possible after the 2nd day following the first class meeting. 1st of a 3- course series, but may be taken on its own. Technical skills taught based on the ACA international Level 1 standards such as logistics and safety, Leave No Trace ethics, basic knots, intro to anchors and rigging, rappelling and belaying, self-rescue and more. Class meets May 15 & May 22. Overnight camping field trip all day Fri-Sun May 25 - May 27. This class is being offered to students enrolled in (Work, Wellness and the Great Outdoors Learning Community - UGS 2300) This outdoor lab/class is scheduled for students taking (Work, Wellness and the Great Outdoors Learning Community - UGS 2300). Both class meetings (prior to field trip) are mandatory. Drops not possible after 2nd day following the first class meeting.
