
Pistol marksmanship, safety, skills, and management issues associated with shooting in state-operated facilities.
This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course. Students can purchase any assigned hardcopy textbooks through our Campus Bookstore.

Attendance at the first two class meetings is mandatory. Students will use .177 caliber air pistols and .22LR semi-automatic pistols to learn firearm safety, proper pistol nomenclature, pistol operation, shooting range etiquette and marksmanship training drills. In addition to the physical aspects of marksmanship students will also learn the psychological principles of learning any new skill to achieve consistent performance. Students will use these skills to demonstrate pistol proficiency by the end of the course. Shooting sessions begin the second week of class. Partial refund of special fees for those who utilize their own .22LR semi-automatic pistol. *Drops are not possible after the second day following the first class meeting.*

In this unique and exciting course, students will use Olympic-grade .177-caliber air pistols and .22 LR semi-automatic pistols to learn how to shoot handguns properly at a very high level. They will also be trained on firearm safety, proper pistol nomenclature, shooting range etiquette, and essential marksmanship training techniques. In addition to the physical aspects of pistol marksmanship, every student will learn core psychological principles they can use to help them master any new skill. Attendance at the first two classes is mandatory. Drops are not possible after the first class meeting. Waitlisted students are encouraged to attend the first lecture.
