This program will provide students with an introduction to the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in instructional design. Topics covered include careers in ID, adult education and cognitive learning theory, ADDIE, AGILE/SAM, curriculum design, learning management systems, authoring tools and other educational technologies. The program also provides instruction on working with subject matter experts, conducting a needs analysis and review the basic tools and techniques used in instructional design. Accessibility, assessments and diagnostics will also be covered. Finally, business skills for instructional designers such as working in teams and project management will be discussed with guest speakers and a final capstone project will incorporate all learning objectives in a real-life ID project.
