Modern Board Games: 5 Games in 5 Days! (Age 10-14)

Board games have come a long way. Just as technology has advanced, so has board game design. This class covers a lot of ground in just a week by introducing students to major categories of "Euro" board games that have emerged in the "modern" era (2000-present), including cooperative, deck-building, tile placement, worker placement and social deduction games. Variety is the spice of fun when it comes to board games. A different category of game will be featured each day of week. In addition, each student will receive a copy of their favorite game played during the week. Co-sponsored with Game Night Games.
- Explore major categories of modern Euro-style board games through hands-on play, including cooperative, deck-building, tile placement, worker placement, and social deduction games
- Develop strategic thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills by engaging with a variety of game mechanics and objectives
- Gain exposure to contemporary board game design concepts while discovering personal preferences and selecting a favorite game to take home
