Join us for a fun week-long exploration of writing! This summer camp opportunity is a collaboration the University of Utah's Department of Writing and Rhetoric Studies and the Youth Education program. It is designed for high school students who are considering going to college and want to explore writing as a possible major or minor. Throughout the week, students will engage in a range of different activities relating to how writing builds worlds: our current world, imaginative worlds, and the world of the future. Workshops will focus on writing in a range of genres, including flash memoirs and poetry, crafting fictional characters and imaginary ecosystems, and scholarship essays. Each afternoon, we will spend time engaging in collaborative world-building through an extended role-playing game (RPG). Camp participants will have the opportunity to submit their writing to an anthology published by faculty and students in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric Studies. Co-sponsored with the Department of Writing and Rhetoric.
Scholarships are available for this camp.
