Game Design: First-Person Action (Age 12-14)
Youth Education

Experience a world through the eyes of a video game character! Students will learn the fundamentals of game design as they develop a first-person perspective game inspired by titles such as Call of Duty and Minecraft. Using Unreal Engine, they will build paths to follow, obstacles to avoid, and pick-ups to power up their character. By the end of the course, students will leave with a playable prototype that can be further developed and shared with family and friends. Co-sponsored with Utah Division of Games.

Learning Objectives:
  • Develop a first-person gameplay perspective using Unreal Engine
  • Create paths, obstacles, and interactive pick-ups to enhance player abilities
  • Build a playable game prototype that demonstrates core first-person action mechanics
