In light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Professional Education will continue to offer all classes and programs online. We will be using the platform Canvas to hold these classes. This program will provide students with an introduction to the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in instructional design. Topics covered include careers in ID, adult education and cognitive learning theory, ADDIE, AGILE/SAM, curriculum design, learning management systems, authoring tools and other educational technologies. The program also provides instruction on working with subject matter experts, conducting a needs analysis and review the basic tools and techniques used in instructional design. Accessibility, assessments and diagnostics will also be covered. Finally, business skills for instructional designers such as working in teams and project management will be discussed with guest speakers and a final capstone project will incorporate all learning objectives in a real-life ID project.

This is a synchronous online class, using Canvas. Once registered, students will receive an email invitation to the online class before the class begins. On the day of class, students will be expected to log into Canvas during the time listed.
