Course Description
Healthcare is changing. With healthcare reform, medical records must move to an electronic format, which has created an incredible need for medical administrative professionals trained on electronic health record (EHR) software, and employers are looking for medical administrative assistants with electronic health records specialist. In this online, self-paced program students will learn: HIPAA regulations; Typing skills; Microsoft Office skills; Basic anatomy; Medical terminology; Healthcare reimbursement; Medical office procedures and management; as well as hands-on training with ezEMRx software, an industry-standard, government-certified, EHR software platform to ensure you have the experience employers need. Those who complete the program will receive a University of Utah Medical Administrative Assistant with EHR Certificate and will be prepared to pass the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) and Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) exams.
