Engineering & Simple Machines (Age 8-10)
Youth Education

Learning Outcomes:

  • Introduction to complex machines
  • Unit measurements and exercises using solar panels, levers, cams, gears and pulleys
  • Simulating real-life machines

Calling all aspiring scientists, engineers, and designers! This camp is designed for students interested in science, engineering, and design. Participants will learn about solar, wind, and DC motors and discover the role machines play in everyday life. Using tools such as levers, cams, gears, and pulleys, students will build multiple models that simulate real-world machines like sweeping devices, windmills, and racing cars. They will also have the opportunity to create their own imaginative designs. Projects include solar cars, alien walkers, dog-bots, and more. By the end of the week, students will not only understand how these machines work but will also invent creative solutions of their own. Co-sponsored with Future Technology Education.
