Immerse yourself in the world of classical drawing, when art was shaped by purpose, reverence, and the patient search for truth. Working with charcoal, you'll explore how the Old Masters embodied form, causes, and imitation while seeking the quiet discipline of the hand and clarity of intellect. We'll study proportion, tonal structure, symbolic form, and the moral resonance of the image. Through demonstrations and exercises, you'll experience Renaissance habits and atmosphere by working to imitate nature truthfully and elevate it through understanding. Join us and discover the timeless principles that shaped Western art from the Renaissance to the Romantic era.
