Watercolor Figures from Gesture to Detail
Lifelong Learning
The human figure provides scale, interest, and life to a painting. As soon as you add a figure you are creating a story. In this class you'll build your confidence by starting with small sketchy figure studies, to simplified figures, to a figure in a scene with more details. With a painterly approach, you'll explore how to draw people, mix skin tones, capture light and shadow, paint fabric, and incorporate the scene with a background. The instructor will provide reference images and you are welcome to bring your own!

Summer 2025 Section 1, Starting on: 07/10/2025
This class takes place in person at the University Connected Learning and Continuing Education building (540 Arapeen Drive, SLC). Students are responsible for their own materials; find the list online. We hate canceling classes, but sometimes there are forces outside of our control. Please keep this in mind as you purchase supplies and hang onto your receipts. Email our office at lifelong@continue.utah.edu to inquire about the status of a class.
