Hands are one of the most expressive, and often most challenging, subjects to paint. Join us to learn an approachable, flexible process for confidently painting hands that feel alive and intentional. You'll start with an overview of hand anatomy, focusing on structure, proportion, and gesture. Then you'll build hands in oil using layered strokes, broken color, and expressive mark-making with a focus on painting beyond the photograph using color temperature, edge variation, and selective exaggeration. You'll leave with tools and knowledge you can use in future portraits and figures. This workshop is designed for beginner to intermediate oil painters.
