Rugmaking for Tuft Times: An Introduction to Rug Tufting

Times are "tuft," but you're "tufter," so now it's time to make your own tufted rug! Jump right in and learn all the essentials of tufting from prep, setting up your frame, using a tufting gun, backing, carving, and finishing. You'll choose from a curated set of artist-designed patterns with plenty of room to make it your own, choosing colors, textures, and finishing details. No experience needed, just show up, get a little messy, and leave with a one-of-a-kind rug that you'll be proud to show off!

Class Sections For Rugmaking for Tuft Times: An Introduction to Rug Tufting (LLCFT 147)
Fall 2026 Section 1, Starting on: 09/10/2026
This class takes place in person at The Rug Lounge (955 E 900 S Suite B, SLC). Please wear comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, and be ready to get a little dirty. Students should bring earplugs. Special fee is for studio rental and all needed materials. Parking in this neighborhood can be difficult; please plan to arrive early. This class is labor-intensive. Students should be physically able to hold a tufting gun for extended periods.
