You'll learn how to travel smoothly across low-angle terrain, then progress confidently to groomed trails, understanding the techniques that make movement efficient and enjoyable. We'll also cover the basics of ski and boot construction--so you can choose and care for your gear wisely--and practice how to use poles, bindings, and layers effectively for comfort and control in varying snow conditions. No experience needed; just bring your curiosity and energy for winter adventure!

Class Sections For Cross-Country Skiing: An Introduction (LLREC 635)

Spring 2026 Section 1, Starting on: 02/28/2026

This class meets outdoors; exact location announced one week before class. Please bring water and dress in warm layers appropriate for the weather. Special fee is for equipment rental. Millcreek Canyon requires a $5 entry fee; please come prepared to pay upon exiting the canyon. This class takes place regardless of weather, provided conditions are safe. Students should be fit enough to walk for extended periods on variable terrain at altitude.
