This dynamic creative writing workshop explores automatic writing and procedural text generation through the lens of ancient divination and modern theory. Moving beyond standard writing prompts, we will treat text generation as a channeled, ideomotor process--using techniques ranging from Enochian Gnosticism and ancient Daoist "spirit writing." To create our texts, we'll explore everything from tarot and astrology to modern digital theurgy, such as Nick Land's "Fanged Noumena." Participants will engage in hands-on exercises to produce both highly formal texts (e.g. Sestinas) and "free" texts (e.g. Fuji planchette).
