Mermaid legends exist in every corner of the world--from seductive sirens of the Mediterranean to protective water spirits of West Africa and playful seafolk of the Arctic. In this course, we'll explore global tales and examine the symbolic roles mermaids have played across cultures, customs, and centuries. Through lively discussion, we'll dive into storytelling, history, and pop culture to uncover how these mythical beings have evolved over time--and why they continue to enchant us today.
