This class will explore the history, geography, culture, and ongoing evolution of Salt Lake City. We will look at the city's founding, growth, and modern development. Topics will include: 1) building Salt Lake City, its layout, architecture, and community planning; 2) the area's industry and its growth; 3) transportation and growth from the wagon trains to TRAX; 4) the surrounding canyons and how they helped shape the valley; and 5) the lost stories of Salt Lake City and its lost neighborhoods. We will compare aspects of Salt Lake City from the past to the present.
