Writing to Publish

In this course, we will focus on writing with the goal of publishing in literary and cultural publications, and more generally improving the quality of writing to be acceptable to editors in any publication sector. Class members will learn and discover: How to interact with periodical publications in a competitive market. How to edit your favorite story to meet the requirements of editors. The "wordcount game" and how to play it. The array of publication sectors available to the beginning writer and how to find them. Encountering great rejections and dealing with all rejection. How to handle that first, wonderful acceptance!
