The Fate of Great Salt Lake

Great Salt Lake is one of Utah's most iconic landscapes, yet its future is increasingly uncertain. In this six-week course, we'll explore how the lake formed, why it is shrinking, and what that means for birds, wetlands, air quality, industry, and life along the Wasatch Front. Along the way, we'll examine the science behind the lake, the real-world consequences of its decline, and the difficult choices involved in trying to restore it in a warming, water-limited West. We'll also look at what has already been done - and what still lies ahead. By the end of the course, members will have a deeper understanding of why Great Salt Lake matters and what its future might hold.
