The Intersection of Our Lives: How History Shaped Us - The 1960s
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

This class will focus on the 1960s through a simple approach: each week takes a different core event--such as the 1964 Civil Rights Act--and shows how two or three connected events from that same year tie back to it, and to our lives. From there, we focus on what our everyday life looked and felt like at the time--using the Top Ten music charts, other major music, movies, books, TV, and headlines from that year to paint a picture of what people were seeing, hearing, and talking about--and how it showed up day to day. We'll answer what changed, what followed, and why it mattered to us in the world we were living in.
