Healing and Growing Neural Pathways After Trauma - A Neurospiritual Perspective
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

This course explores how trauma shapes the brain and how healing becomes possible through the science of neuroplasticity and the integration of neurospiritual practices. Participants will examine the neurobiological impact of trauma, including how subconscious processes influence emotional and physiological responses, and how separating conscious awareness from automatic stress reactions can support recovery. The course will explore how practices such as mindfulness, breathwork, rewiring old identity patterns, quantum energetics (e.g., reiki, huna) can influence brain function and promote the formation of healthier neural pathways. Through a neurospiritual lens, participants will gain insight into how meaning, intention, and embodied awareness contribute to post-traumatic growth and how these can be used as tools to heal from trauma. By the end of the course, participants will develop an introduction to practical strategies and in-depth understanding of how to integrate neuroscience and spirituality to cultivate emotion regulation and trauma resilience in everyday life.
