iPhone 101 offers tips and tricks for getting better use from your iPhone when traveling or in everyday use. David Stillman is an avid traveler, photographer, and Osher instructor. He has taken three recent trips with the Go Learn program, where he discovered that he enjoyed providing iPhone tech support to fellow travelers on the tour. Some topics in this course are oriented towards international travel, but most items apply to domestic travel. Some topics covered are useful for road trips or camping travel, including a website that can help score a campsite at a fully reserved campground. Topics to be covered include: Using the Notes app to store travel itineraries, links to websites, and many other useful pieces of information. Notes are automatically synced between laptop, iPhone, and iPad, and can easily be shared with other travelers. Tricks for Notes will be described including pinning Notes and using folders. We will discuss how to share files, photos, and documents with fellow travelers. This is especially useful for group travel, like with Go Learn. We will cover how to share WiFi passwords with others and strategies to reduce data usage during international travel. We will look at how to use Maps for travel, including creating your own guides, sharing your location, and dropping a pin at the meetup location, as well as how to download Maps for offline use, either at home before the trip, or using hotel WiFi, to save on data usage. We will explore various apps useful for travel, including language translation, currency, transit, electrical plugs, public toilets, walking tours, and weather. We will talk about using eSIM cards abroad and finish with a short discussion on how to edit photos on the iPhone.
