This course series is for Osher instructors to learn how to comply with new federal legislation regarding Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, which go into effect in April 2027. These guidelines apply to all digital learning resources, including syllabi, handouts, slides, and videos. Enrollment in an Introduction section is strongly encouraged for all instructors. AI tools can be incredibly helpful and time-saving when making documents and slideshows accessible. Learn how to prompt AI to format files, how to check its work, and how to continue working with it until the final product creates an equitable experience for all learners. This is especially useful for classes that use images and charts to illustrate concepts. Please note that instructors are not expected to share their slides with class members, but if they wish to do so, those slides must be formatted for accessibility starting in April 2027. If possible, bring your own laptop or tablet to familiarize yourself with the resources available on your device. Recommended preparation: try out an AI chatbot; popular options include OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, and Anthropic's Claude. Each offer a free account option. This is a single-day class.
