Utah Opera Preview: Hector Armienta's "Zorro"

Utah Opera's preview class will provide insights into the story and the music, as well as the production history of Hector Armienta's "Zorro." After love awakens him to the plight of the oppressed in early 19th century Los Angeles, a young man of noble blood dons a black mask to become Zorro--forsaking his birthright to defend the vulnerable against the maniacal mayor and protect the woman he loves, Ana Maria. Will love and justice triumph against tyranny? A swashbuckling adventure. An epic romance. A timeless tale of vigilante justice. The spirit of revolution ignites in the wildly entertaining "Zorro," transformed for the opera stage by Hector Armienta. Opera Education Manager Kevin Nakatani and Principal Coach Deborah Robertson will also present information about Utah Opera's production and its cast. Interested class members can linger after the hour-long class session to observe a rehearsal on-site.
