Utah and the Mountain Men: History of the Fur Trade in Utah
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

This class will examine the lives and times of the first non-natives to explore the territory that would become Utah, from early Spanish explorers through the golden age of the mountain men. Class members will have the opportunity to engage in interactive learning both in and out of the classroom. We will visit the Utah State Historic Preservation Office and participate in the making of period food, as pemmican, learning from reenactors, and trying their hand in other skills of the era. This course will impact your future travels throughout the state by bringing to life the lives and stories of those who traveled there before you.
