Create unique ornaments from your own handcrafted Ukrainian folk eggs! In this class you'll Iearn the beautiful Slavic folk art of pysanky by decorating eggshells with dyes and wax-resist. You'll explore this tradition from start to finish, including emptying the eggs, basic divisions for laying out designs, dyeing in traditional folk patterns, and finishing with varnish. Each egg will be fitted with findings to make an heirloom ornament. You'll walk away from this class with two or more pysanky ornaments and the knowledge and skills you need to continue creating on your own!

This class takes place in person at the University Connected Learning and Continuing Education building (540 Arapeen Drive, SLC). Please wear an apron or art clothes. Special fee is for all needed materials. Due to extensive group material purchasing, the deadline for dropping this course and receiving your Special Fee refunded is two weeks before class.
