Lifelong Learning Student Information

Thank you for joining us at Lifelong Learning! This page is full of information to guide you through how to participate in online and in-person classes. Email us (lifelong@utah.edu) if you have any questions.

Use the timeline below as a step by step guide to use when preparing for your class:

Two Weeks before Your Class

Class Materials

  • Many classes require that students purchase their own supplies such as paints and brushes, weights and resistance bands, or pencils and paper. In other classes much of the materials are provided, but you may have to supply one or two things. Check the listing for your course online to find a list of materials your class requires, if any. To review how to find your materials list please watch the video below.

  • In many other classes, the instructor will provide a kit of supplies for you. These will be provided during your class, so all you have to do is show up with an open mind.

Drop Policy

  • Students will receive a full refund if a class is dropped 7 days before the class begins. Please note: there are certain classes with exceptions to this policy due to extensive materials purchasing, please review the class note to see if this is the case.

Zoom Classes

  • You do not need your own paid Zoom account to participate in our online classes, but if this is your first time using Zoom, you do need to download the Zoom software. You will be emailed a link to your Zoom class before the first session and will use the same link for the duration of the class. You do need the proper device (laptop, tablet, or smart phone will work) and a reliable internet connection to participate in an online class.

3-7 Days before Your Class

  • You will receive an email from Lifelong@utah.edu 7 days before your class starts, and other reminder 1 day before your class starts. This email includes class dates and times, location, and any other additional information to keep you informed. Please read this email carefully to ensure that you are prepared for the first session of class.

  • If you have not seen an email from Lifelong Learning and your class starts in less than one week, please start by checking your spam folder. If you still don’t see a Lifelong email, please contact us at lifelong@utah.edu so we can ensure you have the most up-to-date class information.
  • In rare instances, a class may not reach the minimum number of students required to run. In this case, your class may be canceled. This notification will happen 1 day to 1 week before class starts. If Lifelong Learning cancels your class, you will receive a full refund and will be emailed further details.
