Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
This is a foreign policy discussion class for anyone who is interested in learning more about world affairs. Great Decisions, put together by the national Foreign Policy Association (FPA), is America's largest discussion program on world affairs. Each year in November, a panel of experts from the organization picks the eight discussion topics for the following year. We will read a chapter from their current Great Decisions Briefing Book ahead of class, watch a 20-30-minute video provided by the FPA at the beginning of class, and then have a robust discussion about the critical global issue at hand. Some sessions may have guest speakers.

Class Sections For Great Decisions (OSHER 14)
Fall 2026 Section 1, Starting on: 09/23/2026
This class is a repeat of the Great Decisions class taught in spring. This class meets once a week for eight weeks. 9/23/2026 through Nov 11. Topics chosen by the FPA for 2026 are: Trump 2.0 foreign policy, tariffs, U.S. China relations, ruptured alliances, Ukraine and the future of European security, the future of multilateral institutions, US engagement with Africa, and the future of human rights and international law. Class members will need to pick up a Great Decisions briefing book at the Registration & Information desk on the second floor at 540 Arapeen Drive ahead of the course and compete the reading before the first class session.
