Air Pollution - Measurements, Health Effects, and Solutions
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

Air pollution is considered the most important environmental health threat globally, causing and exacerbating several diseases. Recent estimates by the World Health Organization attribute approximately eight million premature deaths per year to air pollution in 2021, amounting to 8% of the global health burden. In this course we will introduce air pollution principles, as well as discuss measurement techniques and our unique challenges faced in Utah. We will study the associated health effects and economic costs, and present policy and planning efforts to improve conditions.
