Literature of Medicine
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

Hippocrates wrote, "Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity." Literature is an art that best describes illness, the people who are affected by it, and the people who treat it. We will read and discuss essays, short stories, and poems, written by doctors, patients, and by brilliant authors that may include: Emily Dickinson, Anton Chekhov, William Carlos Williams, Eudora Welty, Raymond Carver, and Margaret Atwood.
