"The Remains of the Day" is a 1989 novel by Nobel Prize-winning British author Kazuo Ishiguro. It received the Booker Prize. It is the story of Stevens, a butler with a long record of service at Darlington Hall, who, upon reflection, confronts uncomfortable truths about the man to whom he has dedicated his life. It is also a story of deferred love.
