Mindful of Millcreek
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

Millcreek has played an important role in the development of the Salt Lake Valley, from its pioneer roots, mill families, and farmers; to its recent establishment as an individual city within the Wasatch Front. This course aims to explore how Millcreek has developed over time, and the social geography that has shaped its neighborhoods. We will discuss: the layout of Mill Creek, from the canyon to the Jordan River; the evolution of mill families to Mormon farming; African-American farmers of Millcreek; the Brickyard, radio industry, and suburbs; and Millcreek today and its future. We will end with an optional field trip to visit the area in person.
