Delve deeper into the story of the Utah War of 1857-58 on this day-long field trip to Fort Bridger. Aboard a comfortable motorcoach with Ephriam Dickson as your guide, you will learn about Brigham Young's reaction to the news that a large military force was coming to Utah and how the territorial militia, the Nauvoo Legion, were re-organized and fortifications constructed in Echo Canyon. At Fort Bridger, you will learn how the arrival of winter stalled the large army force, providing time for diplomacy to prevent a major conflict.
