Introduction to Astronomy
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

The goal of this course is to provide you with basic astronomy knowledge and a sense of our place in the Universe. You will model Earth's motions to make sense of the changing positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars as they appear in our sky. Together, we will tour our solar system and explore its planets, asteroids, and comets. We will also try to comprehend the vast distances between astronomical objects. Along the way, we will learn about the instruments and techniques astronomers use to discover the properties of astronomical objects, such as stars, nebulae, and galaxies.
