Korean Ink Painting: Chrysanthemums. This one-session workshop is a study of Korean freestyle painting. Class members will learn a variety of painting skills, using careful and precise brush strokes to control the ink paint. Our subject will be painting the scent of chrysanthemum. We will have an enjoyable time creating with this fascinating medium. Korean ink painting is one of the most meditative and fun ways to experience a cultural exchange.

Watercolor Demonstration. Join Osher instructor, Signature Member and Past President of the Utah Watercolor Society (UWS) Jennifer Love for a live watercolor painting demonstration. Jennifer has a passion for passing on her love of art to others and encouraging people to find their creative voice. She has taught several highly successful watercolor courses for Osher via Zoom since winter 2023: Fun with Watercolor, Basic Watercolor Introduction, Watercolor Studio, and Woven Watercolor. This demonstration is a chance to meet Jennifer in person and experience her approach to teaching, experiencing, and creating art: We will remember that art is FUN and we will not feel constrained by preconceived expectations of perfection!

Marcie's Movie Club Film Review. Join Osher instructor and Salt Lake Film Society Associate Director Marcie Collett for a special CE Open House edition of a Marcie's Movie Club Film Review! As a wonderful, longstanding Osher/SLFS collaboration, Marcie has been leading the highly successful Marcie’s Movie Club at the Broadway Centre Theater since fall 2022 and on Zoom during the COVID-19 Pandemic from winter 2021 to summer 2022, developing a loyal following of hundreds of Osher members. Each week, Marcie helps Osher members connect with one another over independent, first-run cinema, as well as with their fellow global citizens through documentary and international films. As Marcie likes to point out, Roger Ebert noted that movies are an empathy machine! Come meet Marcie and experience a little bit of her Movie Club magic with current and recent film reviews.

Bridge Demonstration. Osher instructor Charlie Belusa has been addicted to bridge since she began playing in 2012. She is a local bridge player and director, and a Life Master through the American Contract Bridge League. She plays bridge casually with friends and has played competitively throughout the US and Canada. Charlie has taught Beginning Bridge Levels I and II for Osher since fall 2025. Her objective at the bridge table and in the classroom is to uncomplicate the game as much as possible, and to help others learn to love it as much as she does. Charlie also leads an Open Bridge Play class for Osher members, providing a comfortable place to play with a teacher on hand in case players have questions. These bridge sessions were created with beginning bridge players in mind, but players of all skill levels are welcome, and we are happy to have you join us, with or without a partner. Join Charlie in this open house session of Open Bridge Play where you are invited to experience a demonstration of her teaching style, ask questions, or just simply watch some bridge players of all levels in action!

The History and Future of the Great Salt Lake with Q&A. Osher instructor, Lifelong Learning teacher, and Go Learn trip leader Jonathan Duncan has over 20 years of experience working as a professional adventure photographer and digital storyteller. His work has taken him through many of the world's most remote landscapes and cultures. He is driven by a passion for wild places and for understanding and communicating the way different people relate to the natural world. He has served on the faculty of The Art Institute of Portland, Western Washington University, and Westminster College. Jonathan has taught many different subjects for Osher since winter 2017, including The Geography of Buddha, Sacred Mountains of the World, the History of Photography, The Idea of Wilderness, and more! Join him for this one-hour lecture based on his longer six-week Osher course, The History and Future of the Great Salt Lake. The Great Salt Lake is one of the geographical wonders of the world. It is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere, and the eighth-largest terminal lake on Earth. Human beings first encountered the Great Salt Lake 12,000 years ago, and for centuries various tribes lived along its shores. The lake was a source of wonder for early European and American explorers and pioneers, from Jim Bridger to Brigham Young. Long before that, the lake was a vibrant and complex ecosystem, providing essential habitat for millions of migratory birds, as well as bison, antelope, coyote, brine shrimp, and a myriad of other living things. This course will chart the Great Salt Lake's rich natural and cultural history, and examine its uncertain future as an ecosystem, economic resource, and source of inspiration.?

Travelog - Patagonia. Retiring from the University of Utah Division of Microbiology and Immunology in the Department of Pathology in 2020 as a Professor Emeritus, David Stillman became an Osher member and instructor--and also a frequent Go Learn traveler! After his first trip with Go Learn to Patagonia, he was asked to share his photographs and presented an illustrated travelogue on Patagonia to a local international travel group, the Utah chapter of Friendship Force, including a short presentation on how travel photos can be markedly improved with some simple editing. On his Go Learn trips, David discovered he enjoyed providing iPhone tech support to fellow travelers, and developed a highly successful Osher course called iPhone 101 - Tips and Tricks to Getting Better Use from Your iPhone When Traveling, which includes some photo editing advice. He also teaches Genetics for Dummies and collaborates with fellow Osher science instructor Alan Eastman to present This Week in Science. Join David for this free "Arm Chair Traveler" presentation about the adventures he experienced and the photographs he created with Go Learn in Patagonia!

Sip and Stitch. Once we reach a certain age, most of us know someone--a family member, friend, associate, even ourself--who has lost a breast to cancer. In this demonstration, we will learn about using the Magic Loop knitting technique to knit a comfortable, machine washable, affordable prosthesis. Amy Hargreaves-Judzis began making things when she discovered sticks and mud as a toddler, and has been creating ever since. She is a member of the Salt Lake Knitting Guild, and has been teaching others to knit for a dozen years, including for Osher and for Lifelong Learning at the U.
